Renoir Nude Recovered
The Renoir recovered this week by Italian police was taken from a restorer's lab 33 years ago.
A late canvas by Pierre-Auguste Renoir entitled Female Nude was identified by the daughter of the original owner. She had thrown a ball and hit it by accident in her childhood which produced a mark she remembered, one not from the spanking most likely rendered after confessing or pointing out this indentation either.
Renoir was a passionate painter who painted with brushes tied to his WRISTS once the rheumatoid arthritis disabled his hands. A studio visitor inspired a beautiful quote by angering Renoir commenting on his "bravery" in regard to working in such condition. Renoir, although I cannot give you the same delivery, is quoted as responding with, "One does not paint with one's hands." : : Angie Seegers : :
